Nuns get deal

0 Comments | Sunday Sun; Newcastle-upon-Tyne (UK), Jul 25, 2010 | by Anonymous

AN ORDER of Benedictine nuns, which is cut off from the outside world, has signed a major record deal with the company behind Lady GaGa.

The enclosed order of the Nuns of the Abbaye de Notre-Dame de l'Annonciation, based near Avignon, southern France, won a worldwide search by Decca Records to find the finest female singers of Gregorian Chant.

They communicate with outsiders through a grille to avoid intrusion into their daily lives, which means they will have to photograph their own album cover, as well as their TV ad.

Hot a lot of fun for fans of hatches

Hot a lot of fun for fans of hatches

0 Comments | People, The; London (UK), Jul 4, 2010 | by Paul Myles

AMID all the eco-friendly cars flooding on to the market, performance freaks have not been forgotten by SEAT - who have launched their hottest hatch ever.

The new Leon Cupra R thumps out an impressive 262bhp from its simple four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbo-charged petrol motor.

Torque is a muscular 258ft-lbs delivered at 2,500rpm - enough to fire this mini missile to 60mph in just 6.2 seconds on the way to a restricted top end of 155mph.

The price of the Leon Cupra R is pounds 25,205, with production limited to about 500 a year. The first customers should have their cars within a few weeks.

And if that's not enough to satisfy all the hatch-mad drivers out there they could take a look at Subaru's new track-day nutter, the awesome Cosworth Impreza STI CS400.

By the time you've uttered its name the snorting monster will have accelerated past 60mph from a standstill!

This a true supercar beater that hits 0-to-60 mph in under 3.7 seconds

This method of advertising is

This method of advertising is called Pay per Click or PPC. The concept is incredibly simple; Google and Yahoo provide listings on a Per bid basis. You bid a certain amount of money for your specific keywords when someone types in a keyword and you have the highest bid then your advert shows up. On Google the adverts show up in the Adwords column on the right hand side of the page whilst Yahoo shows them as sponsored links at the top of the page. If someone then clicks on your advert, they arrive at your web site and you are charged the amount you bid. So, for example if you bid $.10 per click on 'widgets', and that's the highest bid, you'll show up at the top if It's the second highest bid you'll show up second etc. If 100 people click on your advert, then the search engine or PPC service will charge you $10.00. Using Adwords to your Advantage

So now that you know how Adwords work you can use this to your advantage when building websites. If you build a site about a specific subject you can then use specific keywords to attract adverts.

Landice treadmills are known for customer satisfaction and have been rated well by users. Landice treadmills offer some of the highest quality construction in the market.

All Landice treadmills offer aircraft locking hardware which makes the frame stronger, high inertia cast flywheel that gives a smooth feel while protecting the motor from stress, wear & tear, 400-500 pound user weight capacity which is great for heavier users, 4 ply tread belts which are twice as strong as the 2 ply tread belts which prolongs the life of the tread belt and VFX (Variable Flex) cushioning which absorbs shock in vertical, side to side or rocking motions to avoid injuries to joints and knees.

The high price is the only drawback of the Landice treadmill.

'I can smile through pain' [Soul Curry]

0 Comments | Times of India, The, Jul 3, 2010

When I'm asked what keeps me smiling, I say, "I am a tough girl, I am a fighter." Time is the best healer. Today, I am going through the happiest phase in my life. My family is what matters the most.

I married at the age of 20. I was young and na?ve, and for eight years, I tried hard to save my marriage but even God couldn't have saved it.

I walked out of it due to irreconcilable differences with my husband and came back to my parents, hoping to get over the failed marriage but what followed were a series of illnesses

Telstra and Australia's General Practices reach agreement in e- health reform

CANBERRA, July 8 (Xinhua) -- Australian General Practices (GPs) and telecommunication company, Telstra on Thursday reached an agreement on the roll-out of "critical first step" e-health reforms.

The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding with the telecommunication giant, outlining a range of hi-tech services to be brought online from next year.

The first would allow the nation's 17,200 GPs to access health care applications, diagnostic tools and an array of other clinical and administrative software programs using a "single log-on" web service.

"A web-hosted service will make GPs lives easier (allowing them to) access applications from anywhere - from their practices, homes, hospitals or aged care facilities," RACGP president Dr Chris Mitchell said in a statement on Thursday.

"GPs are busy and the implementation of a national e-health strategy might seem daunting, however ... this collaboration will make it easy for general practice to take advantage of the new technology we now have available."

The web service, to be operating from July next year, would also end the current need for clinics to each purchase their own copy of the software used by their GPs.

The agreement follows the passage of the Healthcare Identifiers Bill through the federal parliament, legislation that underpins Labor's plan to create personal electronic health records.

Telstra Business Group managing director Deena Shiff said GPs first needed secure methods of dealing with this patient data online, and this work could now get underway.

"We will work together to lay the foundations Australia needs to accelerate take-up of e-health solutions including patient identification, secure messaging and records storage," Shiff said

Backup plan to rescue the Phoenix

Backup plan to rescue the Phoenix

0 Comments | Dominion Post; Wellington, New Zealand, May 25, 2010 | by BURGESS Dave

NEW ZEALAND FOOTBALL is involved in talks over the future of Wellington Phoenix, the club owned by cash-strapped property developer Terry Serepisos.

The Dominion Post understands Wellington City Council is trying to piece together a backup rescue plan that could be implemented within 24 hours if the club should get into financial trouble.

It would result in NZF stepping in with funding and management so the club's future was assured for players, fans and the city.

Council officials are to meet NZF officials in Wellington this week to nut out the concerns.

A rescue plan that could be implemented within a day would stop disgruntled players from leaving the club and destroying the team, which is one of the council's big fears.

NZF holds the Phoenix licence to play in the Hyundai A-League, which it sub-leases to Mr Serepisos. The council believes this dictates that NZF should take over responsibility should the club fall on hard times.

The council's sports portfolio leader John Morrison was in no doubt that NZF should do all it can to ensure the country's only professional football club was secure in Wellington.

"I am very anxious to keep the Phoenix in town and the NZF are an integral part of that. They need to play a major part [if the club was ever in financial trouble] and we are asking them to do that . . . for a game that is absolutely on fire."

NZF chief executive Michael Glading said there had been a "lengthy meeting" with Mr Serepisos yesterday in Australia before the All Whites' clash with the Socceroos.

There had been "seven or eight items" on the agenda. When asked if there had been anything about Phoenix management or funding, he said: "Not at this point, no
